Spread Love, Not Hate - Speak Out Against Bullying

Spread <3, Not Hate was inspired because of an author being mocked and bullied by someone she knew after her book had been published. Unfortunately, this seems to happen all too often. Instead of people being supportive of someone they know following their dreams of writing, they choose to undermine the accomplishment. Sometimes the bullying is done by people the author does not personally know. I know that several authors have had book bloggers or fellow authors bash their book after it started gaining popularity. So my post today is in support of writers everywhere. Don't let the bullies keep you from following your dreams!

  2. Wonderful idea. It's amazing how petty and childish some people can be. Thanks for doing this!

  5. True. I always say I need a thicker skin as a writer. :-) Thanks!

  6. I've recently had to block two followers (both male) after dealing with their condescending and denigration for months on my Twitter stream. Here's my deal: people don't have to like me or my work. I'm totally cool with that. What I write is controversial and bound to upset people. I know that and accept it. But let's have intelligent and polite discourse -- we're all adults here. No need for name-calling, who's smarter or one-upmanship. (My latest release kinda just proves my whole point about some men, but that's neither here nor there :).

Finally, after repeated attempts to ask for politeness, neither complied so I blocked them. It's a free country and I can write what I want. So can they. I just don't have to read it on my stream. :) If they want to write their own bestselling books, more power to em. Meanwhile, I've got more books to write.
