Seven Day Fiance by Rachel Harris - Waiting on Wednesday

Okay, I admit it, I've already read (and loved!) this book. (Review is coming soon.) Since I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to give it an extra little shout out here on Waiting on Wednesday for those of you who may not have heard of it yet.

Seven Day Fiance
(Love and Games #2)
by Rachel Harris
Expected publication: October 14, 2013
by Entangled Bliss

Angelle Prejean is in a pickle. Her family is expecting her to come home with a fiancé—a fiancé who doesn’t exist. Well, he exists, but he definitely has no idea Angelle told her mama they were engaged. Tattooed, muscled, and hotter than sin, Cane can reduce Angelle to a hot mess with one look—and leave her heart a mess if she falls for him. But when she ends up winning Cane at a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how to solve her fiancé problem.

Cane Robicheaux is no one’s prince. He doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t fall in love. When sweet, sultry-voiced Angelle propositions him, he hopes their little game can finally get her out of his head. He doesn’t expect her to break through all his barriers. But even as Angelle burrows deeper into his heart, he knows once their seven days are up, so is their ruse.

Unhinged by A.G. Howard - Waiting on Wednesday

If you have read Splintered by A.G. Howard, my selection today is one you will be waiting on. If you haven't read Splintered, you should so you will be caught up and ready for Unhinged. And just look at this cover!

Unhinged by A.G. Howard
(Splintered, #2)
Expected publication: January 7, 2014

Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the guy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly seductive Morpheus and the vindictive Queen Red. Now all she has to do is graduate high school and make it through prom so she can attend the prestigious art school in London she's always dreamed of.

That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting overly protective and suspicious. And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn’t show up for school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest in the dark, challenging Wonderland—where she (partly) belongs.

As prom and graduation creep closer, Alyssa juggles Morpheus’s unsettling presence in her real world with trying to tell Jeb the truth about a past he’s forgotten. Glimpses of Wonderland start to bleed through her art and into her world in very disturbing ways, and Morpheus warns that Queen Red won’t be far behind.

If Alyssa stays in the human realm, she could endanger Jeb, her parents, and everyone she loves. But if she steps through the rabbit hole again, she'll face a deadly battle that could cost more than just her head.

Everbound by Brodi Ashton - Waiting on Wednesday

Everbound by Brodi Ashton
Everneath #2
Expected publication: January 22, 2013
Balzer+Bray/HarperCollins

Nikki Beckett could only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity — a debt that should’ve been hers. She’s living a borrowed life, and she doesn’t know what to do with the guilt. And every night Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away.

Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.

Nikki and Cole descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they’d anticipated — and more deadly. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack — even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.

In this enthralling sequel to Everneath, Brodi Ashton tests the bonds of destiny and explores the lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love.

The Enchanted by K.B. Hoyle - Waiting on Wednesday

I put a call out again when I was getting ready to prepare my post for today, and one of my Twitter friends suggested this book. Since the blurb is so short, I wasn't sure what to think of it at first; however, after reading about the first books in the series, it looks intriguing. If you have read the other books in this series, let me know what you think.

Skinny by Donna Cooner - Waiting on Wednesday

Okay, I'll admit it. I just read this on Sunday. Literally. I started it Sunday morning, and it was so good that I read all of it by late Sunday afternoon. Since I enjoyed it so much, I just had to spotlight here.

Skinny by Donna Cooner
Expected publication: October 1, 2012
by Scholastic

Find your voice.

Hopeless. Freak. Elephant. Pitiful. These are the words of Skinny, the vicious voice that lives inside fifteen-year-old Ever Davies’s head. Skinny tells Ever all the dark thoughts her classmates have about her. Ever knows she weighs over three hundred pounds, knows she’ll probably never be loved, and Skinny makes sure she never forgets it.

But there is another voice: Ever’s singing voice, which is beautiful but has been silenced by Skinny. Partly in the hopes of trying out for the school musical—and partly to try and save her own life—Ever decides to undergo a risky surgery that may help her lose weight and start over.

With the support of her best friend, Ever begins the uphill battle toward change. But demons, she finds, are not so easy to shake, not even as she sheds pounds. Because Skinny is still around. And Ever will have to confront that voice before she can truly find her own.

Pitch by Emlyn Chand - Waiting on Wednesday

I've read the first two books in the Farsighted series, so of course I am interested in finding out what happens next.

Pitch (Farsighted #3)
by Emlyn Chand
Expected publication: January 15, 2013
Evolved Publishing

The dead always find a way to talk to Shapri Teak. In fact, some never seem to shut up. A frightened young girl and a spectral suitor encroach on her privacy day-in and day-out. It’s driving her crazy, so when Shapri discovers the opportunity to get rid of them by traveling to the spirit portal in New Orleans, you better believe she’s going to take it. With Alex, Dax, Simmi, and her mother in tow, she attends Mardi Gras—the one time per year when pesky ghosts can be sent to the other side.

After returning to Grandon, she assumes all her problems are solved, but then the blackouts start. Now her best friend and kind-of-almost boyfriend are accusing her of acts she didn’t commit, which begs the question: if she didn’t, who did? Has everyone gone crazy, or is something sinister afoot?

Who will stand together, and who will fall to the other side? Will Alex and Shapri ever admit their true feelings for each other? Book three pitches the Farsighted series into a quiet chaos.

What Happens Next
by Colleen Clayton
Expected publication: October 9, 2012
by Poppy (Little Brown Books for Young Readers)

How can you talk about something you can’t remember?

Before the ski trip, sixteen-year-old Cassidy “Sid” Murphy was a cheerleader (at the bottom of the pyramid, but still...), a straight-A student, and a member of a solid trio of best friends. When she ends up on a ski lift next to handsome local college boy, Dax Windsor, she’s thrilled; but Dax takes everything from Sid—including a lock of her perfect red curls—and she can’t remember any of it.

Back home and unable to relate to her old friends, Sid drops her college prep classes and takes up residence in the A/V room with only Corey “The Living Stoner” Livingston for company. But as she gets to know Corey (slacker, baker, total dreamboat), Sid finds someone who truly makes her happy. Now, if she can just shake the nightmares and those few extra pounds, everything will be perfect... or so she thinks.

My Super Sweet 16th Century by Rachel Harris - Waiting on Wednesday

My pick this week for Waiting on Wednesday is My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris! Rachel has been featured on the blog before, and she is awesome. I actually have an ARC of this, and I am excited to start reading it as soon as I get a chance.

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century
by Rachel Harris

On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother and well-meaning father. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze.

Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor full of creeptastic amore.

Can she find her way back to modern times before her Italian adventure turns into an Italian forever?

Reinventing Claire by Darian Wilk - Waiting on Wednesday

Well, I'm not waiting on this book because I'm currently reading it, but I wanted to highlight it for the rest of you. My pick this week for Waiting on Wednesday is Reinventing Claire by Darian Wilk. Pick up this book when it comes out August 20th or Darian's previous release, Love Unfinished. Stop by Darian's site and connect with her (or check out her guest reviews here on Krazy Book Lady); she's as sweet as can be! (Can you tell by that last sentence that I live in the South?)

Reinventing Claire
by Darian Wilk
Expected publication: August 20, 2012

People get divorced, but that's what happens to other people. That's what Claire thought anyway, until her husband, Charlie, tells her he wants a divorce.

Claire has no choice but to take on the title of Divorced Woman, and face the question she has no idea how to answer. Who is Claire without Charlie? Her family believes her newly divorced woes can be cured by landing herself a boyfriend. With her dating dunce cap in hand, Claire stumbles her way through the foreign territory of online dating.

A teacher from hell, a softball coach, and a sap later, Claire proclaims herself the dating idiot she thought she was, and fears she's doomed to be a lonely, crazy cat lady. But an accidental run-in with an old acquaintance might everything. What starts with comparing dating battle wounds over a cup of coffee, quickly turns into something Claire had given up on.

As Claire discovers maybe there is love after Charlie after all, Charlie realizes his mistake. He wants her back, and he'll do anything to prove it to her. Now Claire must choose who deserves her heart, and if she's really willing to give it away again.

Waiting on Wednesday - Splintered by A.G. Howard

I can't believe that I almost forgot I planned to start participating in Waiting on Wednesday. This will now be a new feature on Krazy Book Lady. (Provided that I can do a better job of remembering.) Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine.

My very first feature is: (drum roll, please) Splintered by A.G. Howard! Love the cover, love the idea of the book, and love A.G. Howard. I can't wait to get started with the traveling ARC tour that I am hosting!

Splintered
Expected publication: January 1, 2013
Publisher: Amulet Books

For sixteen years, Alyssa Gardner has lived with the stigma of being descended from Alice Liddell—the real life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s famed novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. But cruel jokes about dormice and tea parties can’t compare to the fact that Alyssa hears the whispers of bugs and flowers... the same quirk which sent her mother to a mental institution years before.

When her mother takes a turn for the worse and the whispers grow too strong for Alyssa to bear, she seeks the origins of their family curse. A set of heirlooms and a moth tied to an unusual website lead Alyssa and her gorgeous best friend / secret crush, Jeb, down the rabbit hole into the real Wonderland, a place more twisted and eerie than Lewis Carroll ever let on.

There, creepy counterparts of the original fairytale crew reveal the purpose for Alyssa’s journey, and unless she fixes the things her great-great-great grandmother Alice put wrong, Wonderland will have her head.
